Ignition Coils

The ignition coil is an integral part of the vehicle ignition system. The ignition coil’s primary purpose is to transform the low tension voltage supplied via the vehicle battery into a high tension voltage required to produce a spark at the spark plug. This is achieved though the interruption of the low tension voltage (by an ignition module or crank angle sensor) hence allowing the induction of high tension voltage required.

Ignition Modules

The Ignition Module is an integral part of the vehicle ignition system. The ignition module provides switching of the ignition coil at the correct time and for the correct duration; this is achieved through a signal from a pickup coil, Hall Effect or optical sensor or the ECU.

Crank and Cam Angle Sensors

The crank angle sensor is an integral part of the modern vehicle engine management system. The crank angle sensor provides accurate information of crankshaft speed and position; this is achieved through the use of an inductive pickup, Hall Effect or optical sensor.

Pick Up Coils

The pick up coil is an integral part of the vehicle ignition system. The pick up coil is designed to generate a voltage pulse that is used by the ignition module as an RPM and timing sensor.

All ignition parts must be compatible with the vehicle ignition system, all Tirdon products have been researched and engineered to suit each specific application.
